“Lion” – frosted stem American Pressed Glass Lidded Compote (EAPG=early American Pressed glass)  made by Gillinder & Sons Incorporated in Philadelphia or Greensbugr, PA.

Made between 1877 and the late 19th century.

This pattern was widely reproduced – a majority of the pieces on the market are reproductions so be careful – look at the quality of the details in the face. Does the lion look like a lion or a dog? This piece is one of the originals made in the last quarter of the 19th century.
