Laurie McLachlan

As a self -taught painter, my journey into art began as a way to navigate and express the complex emotions and experiences of my life. The allure of colour and the energy of bold, dynamic marks have always drawn me in, guiding my hand as I seek to capture the broad spectrum of human emotion on canvas.

For me, painting is not just a creative outlet; it is a deeply healing process. Each piece reflects a step in my ongoing journey to connect with my wise mind-a place of balance, intuition, and inner peace. My work is a direct response to my life experiences, a visual diary where abstract expressionism serves as both the language and the landscape of my soul.

Recently, my move to Prince Edward County,Ontario has had a profound impact on my art.Surrounded by a vibrant community of artists and the expansive open spaces of the region,I find my work evolving,Influenced by the environment that now surrounds me.These new influences are subtly woven into my paintings, adding depth and absence of place to my emotional explorations.

I strive to paint intuitively, trusting that what emerges on the canvas is an honest reflection of where I am on my path as an artist. My work is not just about what I see or feel: its about where I am in the moment -an ever evolving exploration of self through colour, form and emotion.
