Valerie Podpallack
Since I was a young child, growing up in Prince Edward County, I have viewed the world from the perspective of how would I capture what was before my eyes, how could I show the hidden meaning in an object or picture? I was encouraged by family and teachers to pursue how to share my creative view of the world.
My works share the intent of portraying positive emotions through colour, shape, texture and composition. I embrace the unique marvel of animals, birds, fish, frogs and turtles and other creatures displayed in their natural settings. I am inspired by the emotions evoked by the colours of trees, flowers, sand, sea, and the atmosphere around. My style has been described as a blend of ‘enhanced’ realism and modern impressionism. I have created very limited edition giclee prints for some of my works, as well as printed gift cards for customers who have no room to hang another painting but want to take away a piece of my art.
I welcome every opportunity to talk art with other artists and art enthusiasts, to learn from their view on how to represent the world through art. I welcome opportunities to create commissioned art pieces. As well, I offer opportunities for small groups of would-be artists to embrace their inner creative natures through specially designed paint nights, by reservation.
