Wrex Roth
After leaving behind his rural childhood in Picton, Ontario Wrex attended Ryerson in Toronto where after 3 years as an architectural technologist he worked as a head draftsman which gave him the scope his artistic mind demanded.
Missing the outdoor life and now married he headed home to Price Edward County to purchase a farm and work alongside his father raising poultry where his grandparents farmed after leaving Germany before the war.
After 25 years of farming, his interests changed and his passionate hobby of (go-kart) racing became his new vocation. After 15 years of being both mechanic, mentor and teacher to several young drivers who have gone on to become successful professional racing car drivers, the creative ‘bug’ took over once again when he retired.
A passionate, self taught late blooming artist is the result. Wrex is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, a member of the Oshawa Art Association, The Colborne Art Gallery and the Prince Edward Arts Council. He has fulfilled a large number of commissions and participated and sold his work at various events and solo shows; and now in the Loft Gallery at The Local Store.
