Carol Williams is of the 7th generation to grow up on Wilhome Farms just north-east of The Local Store in Bloomfield.   Many of the details in this series come from recorded family history; in fact the story of the shooting of the bear took place near the first bend in the road as you head towards Bloomfield.

Read and re-read by young people and the adults in their lives, this series follows the young Emma Field as she grows up amongst the Quakers of her pioneer community of Bloomfield, Canada. Her further adventures are guided by the founders of the women’s rights movement, the self-emancipated slaves of Buxton, Canada and the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) of the Great Lakes.
