Canada Council For The Arts – Recognized Canadian Professional Indigenous Artist.
Indigenous Art front and centre at the IIHF 2025 World Juniors in Ottawa! After each game the MVP receives a special hand crafted paddle by local Indigenous artists. They were commissioned to design unique paddles for the World Juniors.
Angela’s art is deeply rooted in her Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) heritage. She will be presenting two of her paddles at todays USA vs Latvia game.
Angela’s art is influenced by the landscapes and wildlife of Turtle Island (North America), and the legacy of her grandfather, Henry Trudeau, a Residential School Survivor and WWII Veteran.
“I celebrate spirit, the land and my culture, drawing inspiration from my ancestors on a journey of healing and discovery as I reconnect with my cultural roots. I want my paddles to represent the spirit of the land on which we live, while promoting joy and healing through the use of colour.” Angela Wiggins.
A shout out to Esso Canada for supporting the paddle program by compensating the artists for their work.
