Prince Edward County, Ontario is home to a large collection of Barn Quilts! These colossal roadside barn quilts are a folk art movement that artistically pay homage to women of the farm by combing two symbols of our farming heritage: the traditionally thought of male domain of the barn and the female domestic domain of quilting. It is the story of one of the fastest-growing grassroots public arts movements not just here but in many farming communities in the North America.
These canvas barn quilts are copies of actual hand painted Barn quilts seen in Prince Edward County by artisans such as Leslie Edmonds. The Local Store sells 2 foot x 2 foot exterior barn quilts for the outside locations such as fences or the sides of buildings.
