Torquay pottery refers to a type of pottery produced in the Torquay area of Devon, England, from the mid 19th century until the late 20th century.  It is known for using local red clay and is most famous for its ‘mottoware’ – pieces decorated with humorous or inspirational sayings often in the local Devon dialect.
