Hand-painted Japanese 19th C Jam or Honey Pot c1890-1920

$28.00

This item is an antique hand painted porcelain jam jar or honey pot with a silver-plated lid and rim. Based on the style, it is likely of Nippon porcelain from Japan, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1890-1920) but it is unmarked.

The cobalt blue banding, extensive gold gilt, hand-painted floral motifs (roses), and a bit of moriage (raised white beading) are characteristic of porcelain produced in Japan during the Nippon era (1890–1921), even when unmarked.
